Clocks Like Horses
Khudayyir, Mohammed

The narrator of this short story never reveals his name, but we do know the name of his uncle, Mughamis. Mughamis was a sailor that traveled throughout the world; some might consider him a nomad. The narrator inherited a collection of rare chain watches from his uncle, however knew very little about them. The watches didn't work, and while having lunch a waiter told the narrator about another sailor in Fao that could repair his watch. A large portion of this story is about the narrator's trip to Fao. While meating this man he learns many things from this man about the lifestyle of a sailor, or a better backround of the life that his uncle lived.

Dreams Seen by a Blind Boy
Rayya, Yusuf

This is a very short story told in third person. In my opinoin the little blind boy is a link between the living and the dead. His mother takes him to the gravyards where he recites passages about Allah. I believe he is a link by the way he not only recites these passages but also how he could see certain things.

The Trial of a Small Black Woman
Kassem, Abdel-Hakim

This story is about a man wrongly accusing this small black woman of stealing his money. He says that he didn't not kill her, but I have my doubts. This woman was an example of someone being condemned for a crime they didn't commit due to the fact that no one knew anything about her. The man finds his money tied up in a handkerchief, which i'm sure ate at him for the rest of his pathetic life.

Small Sun
Tamer, Zakaria

The main character of this story is Abu Fahd. Abu dies at the end of the story because he is a drunken idiot. He is actually killed by another drunk under a bridge. Abu shouldn't have listended to the sheep that was supposedly a king. This sheep told him that he would give him gold if Abu put him down. Once Abu put the sheep down it disappeared. Abu goes home tells his wife, who has a laugh over the whole matter, and then returns to the bridge where he is then killed by a drunk with a razor blade.
